Super truckers typically speed excessively, drive fast in bad weather conditions, use two log books, haul overweight loads, and drive for endless hours without sleep sometimes using drugs to stay awake. Super trucker- A driver who breaks all the rules because he either thinks it's cool or is trying to make that big money. I've been meaning to ask some old-timer when 'good buddy' came to mean something other than a friendly gesture. Unfortunately many truckers are homophobic and usually use 'good buddy' to be meant as an insult. Rambo- A tough talking trucker who'll threaten you on the radio but who really can't walk the walk. Parking lot- A car hauler or a traffic jam. They radio to a patrol car on the ground when they catch somebody. They usually are used to clock unaware speeders. Bear in the air- Highway patrol officer in a small airplane or helicopter. Polar bear- Department of transportation enforcement officer. So called because many of them have to wear a hat like the one Smokie does. I think there's about 50 of them but those 4 are the only ones I've heard used. Appreciate it northbound, have a safe ride going that way." "You do the same." So much for c.b. Looks like you're backed up about 2 miles." "10-4. What's the 20 on the 10-33?" "I think it was around mile marker 144. What's the major malfunction?" "You got a 10-33 ahead of you." "10-4. This is a typical conversation using these codes: "Break it down, southbound, you're coming to a stop just around that curve." "10-4, northbound. This is commonly shortened to 20 for some reason.
